Mēs pieņemam katru dziedātāju, kam ir griba dziedāt! Parasti ar individuālo dziedātāju vienojamies kad tas būtu gatavs piedalīties koncertā vai uzstāšanās reizē. Dziedātāji ar pieredzi un kuri ir gatavi ātri iemācīties jaunas dziesmas parasti var to darīt uzreiz!
Es nezinu kurā balsī man būtu jādzied – kā lai zinu, ja esmu Soprāns, Alts, Tenors vai Bass?
Lūdzu atnāciet uz pirmo mēģinājumu kādas 15 minūtes pirms sākuma, lai varam iepazīties un nolemt, kurā balss grupā jūs ielikt.
Kad un kur notiek kora mēgīnājumi?
Mēģinājumi notiek trešdienas vakaros, no 19.00-21.00, Londonas Daugavas Vanagu namā: 72 Queensborough Terrace, W2 3SH. Tuvākās metro pieturas ir Queensway (Central line) un Bayswater (Circle and District Line). Mēģinājumi parasti notiek katru nedēļu no septembra līdz jūlija beigām, ar pauzi Ziemassvētkos un augustā. Kad gatavojamies uz lieliem koncertiem un svētkiem, mēs kādreiz rīkojam papildus mēģinājumus nedēļas nogalēs. Mēs vienmēr cenšamies savlaicīgi izziņot kad tie notiek.
Ko man ņemt līdz uz mēģinājumiem?
Uz mēģinājumiem lūdzu paņemt līdz: visas nepieciešamās notis, ja tās jau ir (pa ēpastu mēs ziņojam iepriekš kuras notis būs vajadzīgas); ūdenspudeli; zīmuli, ar ko rakstīt piezīmes notīs.
Cik bieži un kur uzstājās koris?
Koris regulāri piedalās dažādos sarīkojumos, piemēram 18. novembra svētku sarīkojumos Londonā, Ziemassvētku koncertā kopā ar igauņu un lietuviešu koristiem, īpašos baznīcas dievkalpojumos kā arī pašrīkotos koncertos. Koris arī piedalās latviešu kultūras svētkos gan Lielbritānijā, gan ārzemēs. Esam arī dziedājuši rokoperā “Lāčplēsis” Rīgā; kopā ar latviešu grupu The Sound Poets; kā arī Ziemassvētku egles iesvētīšanā Londonas Lancaster House, vairākiem Apvienotās Karalistes ārlietu ministriem!
Uz koncertiem mēs lūdzam koristiem mums paziņot, parasti cauri anketas, vai varēs ņemt dalību katrā koncertā, lai mēs zinam ar cik lielu sastāvu mēs reķinājamies.
Vai koris piedalās Dziesmu svētkos Latvijā?
Londonas Latviešu koris piedalījās lielajos svētkos Latvijā 2023. gada jūlijā. Plānojam arī uz nākamiem! Lūdzu ievērot, ka dziedātājiem, kas vēlās dziedāt ar LLK Dziesmu Svētkos, ir jāseko dažiem Diriģenta noteikumiem, ir regulāri jāapmeklē mēģinājumus, un ir jāpiedalās kora skatē.

We are very happy to have non-Latvians join us, if you have a passion for choral music and singing in a different language, we will be happy to see you! Can new members join?
Yes, new members in all voice parts are always welcome.
Do you need previous singing experience?
We welcome any singer who wishes to sing. The conductors will usually decide with the new member when they will be ready to perform in a concert or event with the choir. Singers with prior experience and who can learn new songs quickly are usually ready to perform very soon after joining.
I don’t know which voice part I am – how do I know if I am a Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Bass?
If you unsure, please come to your first rehearsal 15 minutes before the start, so that we can get to know you and decide which voice part would be best suited to your voice.
When and where do rehearsals take place?
Rehearsals take place every Wednesday from 19.00-21.00, in London’s Latvian Welfare Trust property (DVF): 72 Queensborough Terrace, W2 3SH. Nearest tubes are Queensway (Central line) and Bayswater (Circle and District Line). Rehearsals usually take place weekly from September to the end of July, with a break at Christmas and in August. When we are getting ready for big events and festivals, we add extra rehearsals on weekends. We will always endeavour to give as much advance notice for additional rehearsals so members can plan to attend.

How often and where does the Choir perform?
The Choir regularly takes part in events such as the Latvian Independence Day celebrations in London, Christmas concerts together with fellow Baltic choirs, special Latvian church services as well as our own organised concerts. The Choir takes part in Latvian cultural festivals both in the UK and abroad. We have taken part in the Latvian Rock opera performance of “Lāčplēsis” in Rīga; together with the Latvian group The Sound Poets; as well as numerous events to celebrate the lighting of the Latvian Christmas tree at London’s Lancaster House, for various UK foreign ministers!
For our performances we ask members to complete surveys to let us know in which performances you are available to take part, so we know we have enough singers in each voice part.
Does the Choir take part in the Latvian Song Festivals?
The London Latvian Choir proudly took part in the last Song Festival in July 2023, and we plan to do so at the next one! We remind everyone that singers wanting to take part in the large song festivals have to follow certain stipulations – attending a minimum number of rehearsals and taking part in the Choir’s Song Festival audition recording.
I don’t speak Latvian – will that be an issue?
No! We already have many non-Latvian speakers in the Choir, and rehearsals are mostly run in both English and Latvian. If you are unsure of anything, please just ask a conductor or a kind fellow chorister to translate for you.
